Dance Residency Playbill

Thank you for coming out to experience the work of these incredible dancers. We were so fortunate to spend the last six months seeing their work come to life, learning from one another, and supporting each other through the process of creation. I started this residency this year out of a desire to see more dance created and performed at Chapel Theatre and to support more dance expression and experimentation here in Clackamas County. If you are a dancer or a dance enthusiast and want to talk about how we can continue to grow the art of dance here at Chapel and in Clackamas, I have an open ear.

claire barrera

claire barrera is an interdisciplinary artist exploring how power, discipline, care and transformation manifest in intra- and interpersonal dynamics. Their current project Came Back Different, researched during their residency at Chapel Theater, explores shifts in perception and perspective over time. Alana Rae Stubbs

Alana Rae is an emerging choreographer who has recently been exploring how movement can interact with set design/visual art. They have spent the last six months reflecting, journaling, and playing in the Chapel Theater Annex to explore an individual’s experience with the wounds that life gives. Their piece “I remember the sky” reflects how we find our ways to persevere, stay intact with all necessary parts of the self, and recover. All necessary to continue upward and outward.
